INFORMATION FOR VISA APPLICATION

All nationals and citizens from countries that do not have visa exemption arrangement with Japan (see here for a list of countries) are required to obtain a visa to enter Japan.

Visa application must be made in person at the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in your own country. However, before doing so, you must obtain an official invitation letter for application of visa from the 2010 MSC. We note that the invitation letter will be arranged by the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers (SICE) of Japan, which has been a partner organization of the IEEE Control Systems Society and is a technical co-sponsor of the conference.

The process for obtaining an invitation letter is different for authors and for attendees who do not have a paper at the conference.

  1. How to receive an invitation letter for a visa: Authors

After uploading the final version of your paper using the PaperPlaza conference paper management web site, please download the Visa Information Form from here. This form should be filled in and then sent to the SICE office by mail. (The address is given in the form.) After confirming that certain conditions are met (e.g., the final version of your paper is uploaded, and accommodations are booked for the stay as indicated in the form), the SICE will send you the invitation letter for visa application.

Please allow ample time for processing requests. For the letter to be issued in time before the conference, the form must be received by July 30, 2010. It should be noted that it can take over a month for your visa to be processed.

For more information on visas for visiting Japan, please check the website of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  2. How to receive an invitation letter for a visa: For attendees who do not have a paper at the conference

An official invitation letter for the visa application from the 2010 MSC will be issued upon request for those who do not have a paper in the conference program but wish to attend the conference and have paid the registration fees through PaperPlaza. For further details, please contact the registration chair Prof. Hideaki Ishii by email with the subject "2010 MSC: Request for an invitation letter".
